In 2009, Murano Software was selected as Microsoft’s development partner for Microsoft Mobile Incubation Week in California, London and Washington, DC. We offered complimentary, offshore mobile software development resources to all participating startups, including a dedicated staff member for each company.

"Murano Software exceeded our expectations in every way," said Brian Hoskins, a director on Microsoft's emerging business team. "The feedback from the startup companies was extremely positive, and the quality of the engineering talent both on-site and off-shore was excellent. We look forward to Murano Software's participation in future Incubation Week events."

Murano used a detailed, focused process to help produce prototypes for participating start-ups. Among the startups at the MIW in CA were Networks in Motion, which turns GPS-enabled mobile phones into full-featured navigation devices, and Brightkite, the location-based social networking service. Brightkite wanted Murano Software to build a Windows Mobile version of their app that’s already available on iPhone and on the Web. Murano Software’s and Brightkite’s developers worked in tight collaboration, and for Networks in Motion, Murano Software’s developers created a prototype that allows users to change their status on Facebook from a third-party app.

Murano Software also supported Motolingo, a revolutionary product that allows user’s car to talk to Bluetooth-enabled smartphones. The software reports if the phone was used to text while moving, whether user is getting the best fuel economy they could and when user’s car needs service. These are just a few of the extraordinary features of the software.

"Muranosoft's broad expertise, technical comprehension and hard work allowed them to make huge contributions for Motolingo during Mobile Incubation Week," said Mitch Todd, CTO and founder at Motolingo. "They were able to acclimate to all of our requirements and make our application more robust, reliable and feature-rich during the laborious, time-sensitive week. Setting up a database on the back end, creating an ASP.NET web page on the front end and making our software location-aware are just a few of the things Muranosoft accomplished, all in under a week. We are looking forward to further developing our features now and in the future with Murano. We consider Murano to be a partner in our success."

At the Microsoft Mobile Incubation Week held in London, Murano Software helped Comufy, a next-generation communication platform, win the "Most Innovative Technology" award. "Muranosoft provided us with outstanding support in developing a Windows Mobile application for our product," said Sebastien Marion, founder of Comufy. "We were extremely impressed by the quality and speed of development of their engineers."

At the Microsoft Mobile Incubation Week held in Washington, D.C., Murano Software helped four startup companies to build working applications in a short timeframe (a week). Among them, for example, was Spry, the application that offers comprehensive insight for software projects. During the MIW, a full-featured, mobile version of Spry was built. It uses the Spry API, has a really sharp-looking UI and is easy to use. Below, you can find the screenshots of the mobile app.

A demo video of how the app works and more examples of mobile applications developed with the help of Murano Software during the Mobile Incubation Week in, Washington, D.C., are available at our blog.
