With twenty-five years experience in real estate, Richard Uzelac clearly understood the tough competitive challenges Real Estate and Mortgage professionals face every day. He launched RealtyTech to empower these professionals with specific tools, and one of the first services RealtyTech offered was building custom websites to help them gain visibility and provide superior service to their clients. However, with limited internal resources, they soon hit a wall on how many clients they could service.

Growing the business while preserving RealtyTech's profitability was paramount for Richard. This meant that significantly increasing personnel overhead by hiring a lot of expensive full-time web developers was not a viable option. The expense of outsourcing locally was above RealtyTech's budget limits.

Initially, RealtyTech chose teams in India to do the outsource development. Unfortunately, some of their worst fears were realized: "We found the work was poor in quality and the communication was appalling. I was ready to give up on the whole overseas experience," recalled Richard.

So they looked for an offshore firm that was rooted here in the U.S. They found Dimitri Nikouline and Murano Software. "I'd actually known Dimitri Nikouline for about four or five years. In my experience, he was smart, hard working, honest and dependable," Richard said. With its U.S. headquarters, Murano’s main development facilities are in St. Petersburg, the Russian equivalent of Silicon Valley.

Murano engineer assigned to the project adapted to RealtyTech's schedule and California time zone. Facilitating clear communication is the fact that the Murano team all speak English. Even the time differential was not a problem during production, as the regular interaction ensured that RealtyTech got the application functionality they needed. Even the normal bugs and change of functionality requests that are part of any development process were handled very quickly and efficiently, both pre- and post-launch.

The Agent123 application developed by Murano is now one of RealtyTech's two cornerstone products. "We love it because with Agent123 we can offer our clients high quality, well-designed and rich featured websites for just $500, where before the cost for an equivalent site was $2,000 or more."

"Murano followed our directions and really just created what we wanted,” Richard Uzelac said. ”We got what we wanted, not what they could do, or what they thought we should have."
